Founded In 1980
Our club began from humble beginnings in the Dairy Flat hall on 12 August 1980, a public meeting was held to consider the proposal of forming a hockey club. 23 People attended this meeting and enthusiastically supported the idea. The Dairy Flat club was underway. A steering committee of 8 people were elected, this included Marian & Bill Webb and Dave Hunton. I believe their first committee meeting was held at Albany Pub.

The club was to be ready to field teams for the 1981 season and was the first totally integrated club on the North Shore. The club became affiliated with North Shore Women’s Hockey Association and the Auckland Hockey Association through North Shore men’s club (now Takapuna Hockey Club). The club uniforms were decided upon, Green & Gold, the same as Silverdale Rugby club. We were very lucky as a grass field at Silverdale was designated for hockey and this became our home ground. The Dairy Flat hall was made available for mid week practices. So we were ready and in 1981 we fielded our teams for the first time.

3 Women’s teams in North Shore competitions, 3 men’s teams (one in the Auckland competition and 2 playing locally). Our first year brought mixed results with the Top Women’s team being runners up in Reserve grade and the top Men’s team being 5th in the men’s Division 2 grade. The first club win occurred in 1982 when we won the Women’s Third grade championship.
